A collaboration of seven central schools that are

 leading quality learning in a

technologically innovative environment.

Every student is entitled to an excellent education,

it's never too early to consider the future.

WAP has been in operation since 1990. The program involves seven central schools; Peak Hill, Trangie, Tullamore, Yeoval, Tullibigeal, Trundle and Tottenham.

The Western Access Program's dedication to best practice enables your child to integrate the most modern of educational technology into their everyday learning environment. This is achieved through a blend of video conferences and teacher/student face-to-face lessons.

WAP allows our students, your children, the opportunity to complete Year 11 and 12 in their own community, under the care and guidance of their family, in your local central school.

The Western Access Program (WAP)

The Western Access Program is an intensive study program that encompasses modern technology to ensure access for students in rural communities to senior secondary studies

WAP – What advantages will it provide for my child?

·  The Western Access Program allows students who attend central schools to complete their entire schooling within the one environment, Kindergarten to Year 12.

· Our students prosper in a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment that supports each child in their individual endeavours.

· TCS and the WAP provide the qualified teachers, support and innovative programs that come from being part of the largest education system in the southern hemisphere. As a NSW government school we are open and accountable in meeting local needs and state-wide standards.

· Our students develop many important skills through the Western Access Program including independent work habits, accountability and responsibility for their own learning.

How will your children attend lessons in the Western Access Program?

Students attend video conference tutorials with their subject coordinators two or three times a week for 30 minutes per lesson. This is supported by an in-school co-teacher who is timetabled onto the subject for a minimum of 4 periods a week.

Universities and the Western Access Program

The Western Access Program has the advantage of a bonus mark scheme where students are given up to six extra marks towards their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). Early admission into university courses is also looked upon favourably for WAP program students. Australian universities have identified that the qualities which make a successful student in their system are the very same qualities students possess when they graduate from the Western Access Program, giving the students at Tottenham Central School a distinct advantage when applying for university placements.
