TOTTENHAM CENTRAL SCHOOL

Encouraging all students in the aim to Better Our Best

Principal

It was with great excitement and anticipation that I arrived in Tottenham. It is certainly a big change for me and I must admit to feeling a little nervous as I walked into Tottenham Central School to begin a new chapter in my life.

I have a long history of teaching, mainly Industrial Arts and spent ten years working at Bankstown Boys High School in Sydney. My wife and I decided to seek a better life in the country and moved to Parkes after I received a transfer to Trundle Central School. Then after teaching at Trundle for many years, I made the big decision to accept the position of Principal at Tottenham Central School.

During my time at Trundle Central School I have, through the Western Access Program, Gobondery Carnivals, sporting events, and other excursions been able to get to know Tottenham CS. I have always been impressed with the dedication of the staff at Tottenham, the enthusiasm and support parents give to their children, the school and most importantly the great attitude displayed by the students. I have more recently received feedback from Mrs King, Mr Maher and Mr Hodges about what a fantastic school Tottenham Central is. You should all be very proud of your reputation and what you are achieving here. I hope I can lead and support the school over the next few years in a manner that allows these admirable traditions to continue and grow.

I have been extremely impressed with the friendly, happy and positive attitude shown to me by all students. I have tried to meet as many students as possible, learn their names and see them at work on my classroom visits. It is an indication of the quality teaching and care given by teachers at Tottenham CS that students are keen to show me examples of their work and what they do at school. I have also spent a lot of time in the playground at recess and lunch and have been equally impressed with the happy atmosphere and the nice friendships students have with each other.

The other thing that has struck me is the dedication and hard work put in by all staff at Tottenham Central School. This includes the executive, teachers, cleaner, general assistant, admin staff and teacher aides who together with the students create a very good school that everyone should be proud of.

I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of the students and staff. It is also important that I get to know as many parents and community members as quickly as possible and I will endeavour to do so during this term. Please feel free to drop by and say hello. Remember I will make myself available to talk to you and that you should contact me whenever you need to.

My best wishes go to the new Year 12 class as they enter their last year of school. I am sure it will be a memorable time for all of you and you should endeavour to make the most of your last twelve months at school. You also now have the added responsibility of being the leaders of the student body, a task I am sure you will undertake with great pride and maturity.

Finally thanks so much to everyone; students, teachers, parents and community members for making me feel so welcome at Tottenham. I am really looking forward to working together to ensure Term Four 2009 is a happy, productive and successful time for everyone.
